60 Beliefs From 60 Years

Below please find 6 beliefs from each decade of my life thus far. These beliefs are based on the experiences of each decade. Please enjoy and reflect on your own most valuable lessons learned and beliefs formulated from your own decades of life.

Age 0-10:

  1. If I don’t ask for what I need, I won’t get it.

  2. It’s up to me to get myself “in the room”. 

  3. Observe and learn (and learn from others’ mistakes when necessary).

  4. My hungers to belong, to be wanted, to be loved, to feel safe are healthy and necessary.

  5. Don’t let fear get in the way of going for what I want. 

  6. Life is unpredictable.


Age 11-20:

  1. It is up to me to take care of myself. No one is coming. 

  2. I can find safety within myself.

  3. There are bright lights along the way, guiding me. 

  4. I can choose who to trust.

  5. Suffering is inevitable. Resilience is possible.

  6. We lose people that we love, but life and love goes on.

Age 21-30:

  1. I am capable.

  2. Children bring joy.

  3. I make mistakes and learn from them.

  4. There’s almost always a chance for a “redo”.

  5. I am responsible for my own experience.

  6. Education provides freedom from poverty.


Age 31-40:

  1. Taking risks gives me courage and strength. 

  2. Investing in my own personal growth leads to a bigger, bolder, more satisfying life. 

  3. Not everyone will be supportive of my decisions.

  4. Neglecting myself always leads to resentment and bitterness.

  5. Being vulnerable allows others to see and support me. 

  6. Friendship is an anchor in the storm of my life.

Age 41-50:

  1. Abandoning myself leads to depression and destructive choices. 

  2. I can pick myself up and try again.

  3. There are people all around me, waiting to support me. 

  4. Teamwork DOES make the dream work.

  5. The universe is FOR me. 

  6. I co-create my experience. There is no one to blame.


Age 51-60:

  1. Listen to my inner voice.

  2. My path is my own. 

  3. I can withstand unbearable pain. And recover, with the help of others.

  4. It takes courage to step out into the unknown.

  5. A value-driven life is worth living. 

  6. Sometimes I am given a second chance. Take it!
